what is this?

there are two sensors of some sort that i am trying to identify. they're on the heads, in between plugs 3 and 5 on the driver's side, and between 2 and 4 on the passenger side. they each have one wire attached but i havent followed to see where it goes. i think i may have damaged one and would love to know what it is. thanx!!!!!

ps- i have a '94 4.3L tbi s10 pick-up

Driver side is sender for temp guage. Dunno about passenger side, tho...

no its directly under the sender.
