94 Probe GT

I have a 94 GT and the check engine light is on. i bought the car with the light on. I have pulled out 2 codes, 15 & 17. I have read that these are for the O2 sensors. I have also heard that the engine temperature sensor may be the culprit, is the engine coolant temperature the same as the engine temperature? The RPM of the engine is at 1500 when cold, but then goes up to 2000 when it warms up. any help would be appreciated.

You are right on the codes. Replace the front sensor with a new one. It's pretty easy. The size of the O2 sensor is 23 mm. So you can use a 23 mm wrench on it. You can also get a O2 socket to remove it as well. If you don't have the right tools, you could try an adjustable wrench, but be sure to soak the O2 sensor in some rust penetrant (I recommend PB Blaster brand stuff, WD40 doesn't work as well)

Check your coolant level. Make sure it isn't low. A low coolant can sometimes cause idle problems. Be sure your engine is colde before you remove the cap.
