S-light on; changing TCM/TCU on '91 AccEX

I have a '91 Accord EX with transmission control module problems. The S-light can be reset only by disconnecting the battery. After a half dozen starts, the S-light comes back on and the auto transmission gets stuck in second gear, or won't go in reverse, or won't move out of park.
My mechanic says I need a $280 (remanufactured) TCM-TCU.
I have located a used TCM/TCU ($15) which I am about to install.
Is it a simple install? Do I just disconnnect the battery, pull the plug-ins, and re-connect the plugs to the 'new' unit?
