import (europe-canada) and (usa-canada) few Q's
i have a few questions and in the past got alot of mixed comments, to my knowlege the gov. of canada changed some of its import laws so i gota as in hope's someone knows
![]() well im planing to get a 1987 porsche 944, if i got it from europe to bring it back here (canada), what would i have to change on it? i was hoping for any kind of lists or guides in the general direction on what and how i need to bring it here, few people i know said they wont allow the actual car past customs and i would have to disassemble the car there, and ship it in pieces to canada and re-build it here, others said i could ship it in a container but would not allow to get it past customs without changes on site, had a friend who did this a few years ago and he had to travel to the east coast to actually change all the parts on site, which... im hopping i dont have to do lol and besides the changes, would there be any extra charges through certain taxes of some sort? my second option, was bringing one up from the states, i dont "think" i would need to do many conversions besides the speedometer and... ? not really sure what else, would i need to pay anything to customs if i brang if from the states? and if i did, would it make a diffrence if someone with a dealers license drove it instead? i REALLY hope someone can help me out here with any of this, and to those who do, thank-you! ![]() thanks again, -Vladimer |

Re: import (europe-canada) and (usa-canada) few Q's
i don know about the bring it from europe, but you would have to pay dutie when u bring it back to canada, fucking government, but what ya gonna do? next, the spedo u shouldn't have to change, as long as it has km on it, like even if they are the small numbers, and even still you might be able to get away with it, you would just have to know the conversion, i know i have an 81 jeep wagoneer, it's canadian, to the best of my knolwedge, and it has mph in the big letters and i have never been told that it has to be changed, and it went through the entire inspection when we brought it to bc from alberta, you will however have to make sure u have all windows, none cracked, all switches and dials must work, weither it is stock or aftermarket, even if it just turns on an led on the dash, it has to do something that the inspector can see, otherwise, hide the switch, like remove it and hide the hole. other than that i don't know, lights must work, but this is just to insure it, i don't know if there is an aditional inspection when it comes to the country and then the one that iwas talking about when you register it to the province/teritory
