Post Tonneau Cover for 2004 Silverado.

Hello,
New Chevy 2004 Silverado Crew 2500HD owner. Any suggestions for the best type of tonneau cover for a short bed. Also taking suggestions for bed liners. Thanks in advance.

I have a 2002 ext cab 1500 and I chose the Undercover Tonneau cover for several reasons.

1. Strong and Lightweight.

2. Does not need to be painted.

3. Easily removed from the truck should I have the need to haul something large.

The cover is weathertight and matches the black plastic on the front and rear bumper exactly. It only took me 20 mins to install with my brother there to help me lift it onto the truck. It has a strong lock with a spring loaded cover to protect it from the elements. It also has hooks to hang it on the wall when not in use. I highly recommend this to anyone who wants a top quality cover and does not want to go through the expense of painting it.

The link is http://www.truckaddons.com/Catalog/s...eau_covers.htm

As far as the liner goes...

Most plastic liners are the same, but a spray on liner is far superior. It is sprayed right onto the truck bed and it also helps to protect the bed from rust. Most plastic liners scratch the bed underneath them due to the liner moving and after a while the bed will rust.

If you want some pics of the tonneau cover let me know and I'll post them.

Re: Tonneau Cover for 2004 Silverado.

Thanks Bim,

I would like to see some pictures of the tonneau top installed if you don't mind. I checked out the website. Does the tonneau top open with any type of support shocks from the back of the pick up like a lid, or do you just simply lift it off the back of the truck bed? Thanks

I'll take pictures in the daytime tomorrow.

How the cover works is:

It has 2 slots in the front of the cover that hook into the front mounting bracket. Then you use 2 rings to keep the cover in place. The 2 rear mounting bracket has the shocks attached to them. The shocks also have quick release connectors that allow you to remove them with a small flat head screwdriver. The cover also has clips that you can attach the shocks to while you are storing the cover. The shocks also will raise the cover by lifting it about 3 inches from the bed.

After installing the cover I sprayed the truck with a hose right where the cover meets the truck. It did not leak at all. This I was very impressed by, since I have never seen a tonneau cover so "weatherproof". I also like the fact that it is so easy to take off and put on.

No bedliner is better, than a plastic drop in. Get a spray liner!
