Running lights

I have a 2000 Silverado P/U. My manual says I need to us a 3157KX blub to replace my burned out one.
1-Been to two auto parts places and there are no 3157KX blubs. Is there been a replacemet blub for the factory original
2-Once I find the correct bulb how the heck do I replace it?

Any help would be appreciated Thanks

Re: Running lights

Are you talking about DRL's (Daytime Running Lights)?

Any 3157 bulb will do.

The different numbers after the 3157 usually just means that it's an extended life bulb or brighter.

Well I was just messing around with mine the other day. I believe this is the only way.
1)To the left & right of the top of your headlight there are 2 upside down, looking allen wrenches. Flip the outward & pull them up & out.
2)unplug bulbs from head light & remove.
3) Unclip & remove DRL lense from truck & your golden..
I hope this helps.

Re: Running lights

I used a LED bulb instead of the old standard 3157 bulb in my DRL. It was getting to be a pain changing so often. You can also buy them in different colors if state law allows it.

Re: Running lights

In case there are new people looking for this info i thought I would correct these posts.
regarding 3157KX bulbs: K means high temperature and X means long life.
To replace the running lights in a 2000 Silverado first pull the two pins and remove the headlight. The top of the housing for the running light will now be exposed and has a snap-in latch on the outside; facing the the truck from the front that would be to the right for the drivers side and to the left for the passenger side. Some of these clips are off-white and easy to spot others may be black or gray and without good lighting may be hard to see. Push the front edge of the latch in towards the center of the truck and then just pull the housing out. The bulb sockets are just standard twist/lock.
