Drove the Gallardo

Found the seating position difficult. To get full throw on the clutch (6 Speed) I had to be too close to the steering wheel which is not adjustable for telescoping, only tilt. MAde me bend my arms more than I like. Also the shifter was not at an optimum position because of this. I am 5'11" BTW.
The V10 was alright but nothing like the V12 in the Murci. Yeh I know, another $100000 but I was comparing both cars for a possible purchase and thought that if the Gallardo is almost as good as the Murci for $100000 less I better check it out. I do like the looks of the Gallardo a lot. Truth of the matter is I need to drive both cars a little more to get a better idea. I can say that the seating position in the Murci was much better than the gallardo. Both cars could use adjustable pedals.

If you were looking to buy either car and you could afford them, how can you not pick the Murcielago. But I guess even someone so wealthy would like to save $100,000. I am surprised a car you pay so much for isn't almost perfect. I wish to get a chance to drive either and compare them to, say, a less than $100k sports car.

There is some question at to whether or not the Gallardo has an adjustable steering wheel in reach? Forward and back! The salesman told me no and so I did not take time to look for the adjustment. I did see and use the "tilt" feature. If it does have a telescoping adjustment that would make a big differance in getting the right seat position in the car. Could be the salesman just did not know what the car had for features! If anyone knows for sure please post a messege! thanks, Wings

Re: Drove the Gallardo

Well, another guy, who is 6.ft 2, just drove one, and found the seating position perfect. My Diablo has telescoping steering, so i dont see why the Gallardo would not.

The Murci also has it... so why shouldn't the Gallardo?

I will find out for sure this week. Someone who is 6'2" would be better off than I was as that person with the longer legs would not have to sit as close to the steering wheel as I had to.
After reading a test ride report done in the U.K. I noticed they mentioned the steering wheel WAS adjustable for reach! HMMMM

I read that one of the test drivers can shift the conventional manual that fast! (it wasn't Balboni though)

Re: Drove the Gallardo

When I test drove the Gallardo last week, there wasn't any telescoping steering wheel feature.
