Possible Electric/mechanical problem

I was driving twoards my house when all of the sudden my truck starts ideling very roughly and died. I got it to start again and it still idled rough and when I gave it gas there was a sound from under the hood as if a fan or something was knocking around. There was a loud pop or snap and I saw something hit the hood and the truck died.

When I got it home I looked under the hood and it wasn't a belt, but my oil dipstick had shot out of the slot and was halfway out. Now my truck won't start at all. When I turn the ignition I get a light buzzing noise from under the hood and my dash lights flicker. If I let it sit for a few hours or so when I turn the ignition to the on position it will act normally until I try to start it, then I get a click and it goes back to the buzzing.

If anyone has the slightest idea what the electrical problem might be please leave a message here or email me at [email protected]

Thanks.

My suspicion is the engine itself has let something go. You might try using the correct size socket on the crank bolt and attempt to turn it by hand. If the engine turns freely, without noise, i would look into the starter not operating. Ray
