...Speaker Placement - Question?

...ok, I need all your help.

Where are the speaker locations in the front of your car? (Dash/Door/etc...) What size are they - if you know? (or approx. - 4"; 5.25"; 6.5"; etc...) And what year is your car? Thanks.

Ex: '87 300D-Turbo; Dash - 3" or 4"

...I am thinking about adding a couple of drivers to the front soundstage of my car and am wondering what the different stock locations & sizes are for different years, so that I might be able to retro-fit something. Peace.

Speaker placement in 124

When replacing the antique Becker Grand prix tape/radio with a today technology CD head unit, it is a good idea to replace the paper face, o.e. speakers with matching coaxial ones which are four ohms.

For stock location, 4" will fit in front, and 5.25" will fit in the back. For much more money, fibreglass pods can be integrated into the rigid door "pockets" or German pieces which come with MBQuart speakers and fit in place of the lower door pocket.

A four channelamplifier will increase the clarity of the aftermarket speakers dramatically. P.

...that is exactly what I was thinking about doing - how much do the MB-Quartz pods cost? How difficult do think it would be to custom-build one (to save some $$$)? Please advise. Thanks.

...my system sounds great, and recommend it to all E-Class owners:
- Head Unit - Clarion: dxz835mp ($270.00 - online; $499.00 - retail)
- Speakers - Canton: coax's F&R which fit in factory cut-outs
(approx. $350 for both pairs)
- Amplifier - Avionixx: 440.4; 4-channel x 85 watts for speakers
($205.00)
- Sub-Woofer - Clarion: SRV-303; 7" 60watt-rms powered sub which
fits in emergency kit space in rear-deck and compliments the system
by filling the low-end very well. ($149.00 - online; $250.00 - retail)

MB Quart (now owned by Rockford Fosgate)

The lower door pods complete with MB Quart speakers are from Jehnert of Germany. Find them at: www.jehnert.com/e-doorboardsmercedes1.htm

...awesome link - thanks.

...the Jehnert door-panels are $819.00/euro w/ MB-Quatz speakers. I'm hoping the US-Supplier (Cascade Audio) can get me just the enclosure without speakers (so I can save a few $$$). Peace.
