'93 S-10 Blazer - Should I dump it?
So, I've got a 93 Blazer with about 103K on it. It has been sitting for a couple of years (was trying to sell it). Now I am to the point where it can't really be sold or driven very well. I am considering donating it to charity but I would like to fix it and drive it if it would be worthwhile.
The things I know it needs are as follows: tires, front brakes, shocks, digital dash needs to be replaced, leaks a little oil, and the front end is very loose. Oh, and the exhaust may need some work before too long. The exterior and interior are in great condition. The dealership told me that they would recommend giving it to charity, but I thought I would try and get some other opinions. If you have any input it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. |

Screw the dealership. You actually have low miles for the year and if its a 4.3 motor you have a long way to go (on average). You have many options. Put some money into it and have a second car for a long time to come. Use it as a project (maybe a V8?) lower it, raise it, you can have a nice toy to play with. Part it out. (usually works good on ebay or local newspaper but I hate to see any thing go to pieces. If you want to sell it I cant understand why no one has bought it. Put it on ebay for a week and see what it brings. Where do you live? Someone on here might be interested.

How many miles does one usually get out of a S-10 4.3L motor?

I say you keep it and gradualy fix it up, or sell it. I have an 87 S10 with 157k in about the same shape as yours and it's going to be my first car. Whatever you do DON'T lower it.

id probably keep it, and fix it, unless your not interested in it. but do what you want with it, lowering them can be fun, it depends on what you like. unless its 4wheel drive, then i wouldnt lower it.

Re: '93 S-10 Blazer - Should I dump it?
a blazer with a 4.3 lots of potental ( a typoon clone ) buy some used tires brakes if you do them yourself are less than 20 bucks a pop shocks are about the same, junkyard dash and who cares if it leaks a little it's just marking it turf . I had a 85 with a 2.8 (worst v6 ever ) and before i cracked a head it had like 300,000 miles and still ran good. so for less than a beater you could have a nice little truck

Re: '93 S-10 Blazer - Should I dump it?
i have a 1998 s10 4.3 with 150k. all the problems you have mentioned above is routine maintanence. all older high mileage vehicles are at some point going to have to replace all those parts. i would take care of the tires and brakes and drive it as is. if your not qualified to inspect the vehicle have some one check the suspension for the loosness condition your referring to. you dont want tie rods or control arm coming loose on you. that can be catastrophic. otherwise, dont worry about the mileage. 103k aint s$%t now a days. check your trans fluid and make sure its not brown or black.
