Help with brakes

I just bought a 96 Firebird last week and while driving through town about 10-15 mph stopping for a stop light, my brake pedal went to the floor - the Low Trac light came on - I let off the brake and tried again - the Low Trac light went off - I had brakes again - but the ABS Inop light came on for awhile, seems to come on randomly, guy I bought it from said it comes on when its low on gas (had a half tank of gas at the time). On the way home I hit the brakes a few times while going slow and fast - worked normal each time.
Anyone know what needs to be looked at? Read in another forum same thing happened to someone else, but no one has replied as to what the problem could be. Thanks

Wow, thats a new one on me. You may want to have GM look at it if it happens again. They may know what it is if they have had someone else with a similar problem. Sounds like possiblt something electrical. But you said the pedal went all the way to the floor also so it could also be a number of things. If the service engine light comes on at all, hook it up to a scan tool see what it says or maybe look at the code history.

Sounds like you may have an ABS sensor going bad. When it's not recieving the pulse from the sensor, the computer will think the wheel is locking up, and try to relieve pressure to that wheel ( giving you your pedal drop ).
