Radio reseting codes

whats up

i just got a 97 integra LS and im going to hook up an apex-i S-afc this weekend. to do this i will have to disconnect the negative battery cable. i read in the Haynes manual that if u remove the negative battery cable from the battery that u will have to enter the stereo reseting codes once u connect it back to the battery. i dont have these codes... so does anyone know where i can get them? Also is there anyway to remove the negative battery cable w/o causing the radio to be reset?

thanxs

Maybe you could just pull out certain fuses. Nah, just get a new CD player. They're not that much, and all you have to do is splice a few wires.

Re: Radio reseting codes

You can purchase a "memory saver" that plugs into your cigarette lighter with a 9volt battery attached. They can be found @ most auto parts stores.

Since you do not have the code, it would be wise to get it. First thing check in the glove box or center console for a little white sticker containing the radio serial # & radio code # - only some techs do that during the PDI. If it isn't there, its time to remove the radio & go to a honda/acura dealership w/ car & radio. They can run your VIN# w/ radio serial # to come up with a code - if your radio was changed, most likely the code is wrong. Also the orginal selling dealership may have the code on file in the PDI history or deal bag.

If you can't remove the radio yourself then the dealer will charge 1.0 hr of labor for R&R of radio, this has to be done because the serial # is located on the top/bottom of the radio. Some cars you can pry the trim just enough to peek in there without removing.
