Question H22 in a Del Sol

Hey everybody,
I have a 93 Del Sol Si and I'm wondering if I could fit an H22a in it. I've heard that a B16 or B18 would drop right in and save me some cash, but I'm really not too sure what motor will give me the most for my money.
It's really got me stumped too. I don't want to do a B16, because that's what came in the 94+ Del Sol Si, and I want something bigger. I was thinking an H22a, because I can get it for $1000 or more less than the B18c5, and with that grand I save I could more than make up for the 10hp difference between the two motors. I need some help on this one.... Anyone have some info for me?

Yes, it's cheaper.
Yes, it can and has been done.
Do some research. The same problems that the H22 swap causes for Civics is the same as what you'll have to deal with and that has been covered here many times. I do agree that you need something bigger than a B16 but not just for the reason you listed. The Del sol chassis weighs just a bit more than the average Civic so I do agree that you need something more but I'd stick to something along the GSR or SiR-G if you're not looking to spend 5g's on a motor.

There are companies that make bolt on kits for the H22 swap, so I don't think it's that hard. I saw an ad in Performance Auto & Sound Magazine for a company that sells the complete kit of mounts and axles. But you'll need to upgrade your suspension and brakes if you're gonna add a big engine like that.

a swap like this takes modifications to the enigne compartment of the car and also slight other mods here and there. I found a link to a magazine who was doing the swap in a Civic. I will go look for it

i have a 94 s type del sol i am just about done i can't wait to feel that vtec out the 18c5. i would go with the h22 if your just going to drag it . but if it going to be a daily driven car then you better have a lot of money for suspension upgrades. h22 weights a lot! turning is going to be hard i'll post some pics in a minute
