This didn't seem worthy of it's own thread - but I'm feeling the same way about this car at the moment.

Per www.barchetta.cc - this car belongs to David Clark now. I never read the text before to realize that. Maybe it's no longer his, but I wasn't aware that he owned it at any point.

...and probably the rarest and most stunning ”intruder” of them all, the McLaren F1 GTR of David Clark. This bright orange projectile looked and sounded marvellous...
It's original owner, at least while the car wore that livery racing in the British GT series was James Munroe, who apparently was jailed for robbing his firm of 2 1/2 million Pounds. Anyone know more about that story, or the history of this car outside of it selling for a ridiculously low price at auction?

is it just me or is the 1st pic of Wyclef's interior originally green passenger seats with a yellow drivers seat? It could just be a reflection.

Yes - that's accurate - green leather with yellow inserts in the driver's seat.

The sad thing is, Wyclef had the entire interior recovered and it actually looks worse now.

Re: Woah...

Hello everyone, I'm new here.. I found this forum about 2 days ago (thanks to Gustav from M5board), and I've read lot of the threads on this forum since.

Anyway, the reason I registered is the following (I'm usually a lurker) :

I just wanted to comment on the above question:

I saw a documentary on this guy last year on the BBC. He was a financial manager at a big firm (can't remember the name), and was totally in love with the F1. To be able to obtain one, he did the following: He started two bogus companies, and sent invoices from them to his employer. Him being the guy that approved all the invoices, he was able to scam a lot of money in about one or two years. First he bought an F1 roadcar, but as everything seemed to go smoothly, he also bought a GTR. That one he raced during the weekends, and no one at his firm knew about his double-life. But then his firm started checking their records (I thought it was because they were operating at a loss, but can't be sure about it), and caught him.

Hope this helps to fill in some gaps...

Regards,

Gerrit

Thanks for the additional details - I appreciate that.

Embezzlement is one way to fulfill your dreams, but as this guy has probably learned, it can also force you to live a nightmare. Personally, I'll stick to the hard work and lottery tickets method, and hope one of those pays off eventually.
