Opel Astra X-treme

Hi, after a long time of building the "real Street Astra", the X-treme is ready. I know it's not 100% the original car, but it's close. The rims are renaissance 19" of the 360 Modena Transkit. The original wheels of the Opel X-treme are 20" but there aren't those rims on the market. Anyway, I like the model.

The car comes with a conversion of the DTM V8 for street use. It has about 440 HP. The engine was also used in the Cadillacs at Le Mans.

Here are some pics of the original:

There is only one car built, a totally working and drivable prototype.
The engine is 4.0 liter V-8 (originally introduced in Oldsmobile Aurora).

A Great model!

There are some minor differences to the real car (I saw it in Ruesselsheim earlier this year, where it was on dislplay at the Opel headquarters): The plates on front corners are closer to the wheel arch in the real car and the hole between them is a bit wider, the mirrors are actually black, the windshied wiper is for some reason resting in the middle of the driver's sight on the real car (why?), and the read light clusters are tinted.

Ohterwise that is totally great! I have been planning to do the same. It looks also quite good, the differences on the body kit (for those parts which are left intact on the model) do not look wrong at all. Great work what you have done with the side of the car, looks very authentic. You need to be a "specialist" to see the differences, and practically if you don't have photos of the real car, it's almost impossible to tell the differences, so minor they are.

Respect!

Re: Re: Opel Astra X-treme

I like what you did with the sides but I´m not really feeling it... I don`t know maby it`s the rims that ruins the illusion. And it looks somehow...too simple.

I know what you mean. I think the rims make the difference. I also will cover the mirrors with cf decals and add licence plates. And also the flaps on the front will be closer to the rims. I have to change this. But most important I have to get better rims!!!
