when driving the car the oil pressure gauge maxs out only when foot is on the gas. when idleing it is fine. does anyone have an idea what could be the problem

'93 Cavalier RS 3.1 auto, 138k miles
Oil press gauge does the same thing... It's kinda funny to watch. Any amount of pedal makes it instantly swing past 80. Sometimes it bobbles. I have no idea why this happens. The V6 runs almost perfect, so I'm not worried. After all, better to have too much oil pressure than not enough. |

yesterday i replaced my oilpressure switch now i just hangs out at about 70. i checked the pressure with a agauge and it reads about 40 to 45 when i lay on the throttle. i am thinking i have a bad groung or the gaguge in my dash is all screwed up

i'm just gonna say screw it and put a aftermarket gauge in that i have to run a line to the gauge. that way i'll know the real pressure all the time i hope
