new to the scene from colorado

im new to this forum(obiously) and somewhat new to drifting, first i will start off with a background on hmmm bill clinton, nah we have heard that one before. i grew up in aspen colorado, nice place to visit, lame to live in. i have been interested in cars since my enterence to high school when i got the family pass me down, a nissan pathfinder(which started my respect for nissans) at least 2 people learned to drive that car, and one mom drove it who likes to rest her foot on the clutch. the two learners drove it like it was a race car, the thing was tough. needing a compact car that was fun i sprung on a $600 mazda rx7, not even knowing what a rotary engine was(lol), but it was RWD so i was happy. not sure if it was even faster than the pathfinder but it was fun. had some fun with that but needed to move on to something more reliable, 186,000 on it and the coolant seal was pretty much gone(watch my smoke screen).

so i upped to the common honda civic. same day i bought it i started modding it, soon it was the fastest civic in town, doesn't say much, i know it was still slow. later i bought my current car, a white honda civic hatchback. in which i swapped a b16 and a nice little t28 turbo. its a really fun car and probibly too fast for my insurance. but now the drift bug has caught up to me. i have been interested in drifting since back in high school when i bought my rx7(85 gsl(12a grrrr)), spun it a lot, probibly never had a somewhat nice drift but fun none the less. i work for a local race track where i get free track time, as much as i want.. thats what lead to the demise of my green civics engine. now i am looking into getting a rear driver car since i don't live in aspen i live in hot pueblo. my insurance is getting high so an old car would look good to them.

the track i work at is perfect for practicing drifting, small with some good long turns and some sharp ones as well. i am interested in initial-d(saw my first episode a month ago) style drifting but realize that it rarely *actually* occures anywhere near here. although there are some AWESOME spots around that would pretty nicely represent akina and other mountains, does anyone here "run" them? if anyone here is from colorado and actually participates in drifting of any sort let me know, i wanna get into this and maybe we can help each other out.

What track do you work at.

i work at the aspen sports car club, its a private track where they race renult scca spec racers. i only work there in the summer though.

Hey Cliff. Im Jason and Im about an hour north of you in Colorado Springs. Drifting isnt really talked about here unless you know the people. It is kept very secretive for some reason

cliff notes (as used here) are notes used for reading so you don't actually have to read the entire thing, you can get the gist of the story by reading 'cliff notes'.. used for essays and term papers in college haha

and by the way, the drift scene isn't really talked about unless you're 'in it' applies pretty much everywhere. i didn't know shit til i started reading about it mayb 1 1/2 years ago, then i started slowly seeing common things, getting to know people, it's very hush hush. so hush. no one posts drifting spots on boards, either. i'm sure people from colorado would be very interested in the track though, maybe you could quickly jump to the top of the colorado drift scene by helping put together an event, cause i know at least here that an event is welcomed with open arms.

so get to know some people, and hook others up with an event
