For next time heat up the molding with a heat gun to soften the tape and make it easier to take off.
As for now, have you tried aftalene? Aftalene works very well on glue without hurting the paint. But be careful, if you rub too long on the same spot you will take off the finish of the paint. Use an old clean rag, pour a descent amount of afta on the rag and saturate the leftover 3m tape. Let it sit for about 2 minutes, then try to rub off the tape starting from one end. After you get it all off don't forget to wax the area that you were working on because aftalene takes off all wax and dirt. |

yeah i took the molding off the side of my truck. got the 03 silverado regular cab and the molding was short and gay and looked like it was missing from the bed. anyway i used a heat gun and it took me about 10 mins to do both sides and it didnt leave any signs that the trim was there. as for the residue you still could use a heat gun and heat the tape up and rub it off with you finger. it should just ball up into a ball. thats what i had to do with a little bit of mine and it came off no problem. just dont heat it up to much and dont burn your finger cause the tape will get hot.

If you still have a little residue left over after you use the heat gun try using the Aftalene. They sell it in Home Depot and Loews so it shouldn't be hard to find.
Aftalene is a cleaner that body shops use to remove wax and residue from paint without damaging the finish. It also works excellent on old pinstriping that is coming off.

3M Adhesive remover works well too. I soaked it with that and let it dry a bit and it practically fell off.

yeah i bought the chrome air dam online...Distinctive truck parts makes it but I got mine at stylinconcepts.com. I had the paint done at a body shop. they only charged me $150 for paint and body work on the bumper and the grill. I was gonna do it myself but for that price I just had it done. If you wanna do the body work yourself I could tell ya how. just email me. later.

Re: Molding and emblem problem
hair drier is the best bet like mentioned above but if you have already removed them and have just the residue then Goo Gone works great and is cheap.

Re: Molding and emblem problem
If the residue is thick I used a hair dryer and rubbed it away with a finger. For the thinner stuff I used Meguiars polish (not wax) and it removed any evidence of the trim then I finished up with the spray on detail. I used the trim remover before but it had a chemical smell and the polish did the work the same so I went with the polish.
