best suspension u can get??
I am looking to put coilovers on my car and I was wondering what the best kit would be for a 97 Civic 2 door? My friend said I would not have to spend more then 600 for an excellent kit (coilovers + shocks). I asked him because I was looking at some kits for close to 900.

Remember with car parts you get what you pay for. I spent about $900 for Koni Yellows (one of the best shocks on the market that is affordable) and custom spring rate Ground Control coilovers for autocrossing. One of the best mods I ever purchased.
Those other inferior brands like Tenzo, APC, and the like will just rust away since you are paying basically nothing for those.

Yes you will need to spend more than $600 for a decent kit. The best coilovers I am aware of are Toda Racing Fightex Type ST's - about $3500 for the set.
![]() For the money you want to spend, check out H&R, Koni, & Tein. CivicSiRacer's set-up would be a decent choice also. |

Do you know how much Moton and Penske shocks are? Like $1500-3000/shock! And I know people who have these just for autocrossing!

Very very stiff springs But I know guys who get these for stock class in SCCA. Crazy how people spend money.

The car is trailered in, and never driven on the street. I would never put penske, Moton or any setup like that on my car, as a daily driver, that IMO is track only. There is no such thing as the best suspension. As CivicSiRacer mentioned, about the Konis and custom rates, this is probably one of the smartest choices you can make. If you don't know how to drive, never autox'd, or raced, pick a kit. There are many out there that will feel great. Figure out how your car handles, what is its weakness, and then choose shocks and rates that will help you to control the car.

My whole take on it is like this. What works for one person may not always for the next. It's all on how YOUR car is set up and handles. Take my suspension for example. My Teins won't feel the same on say CivicSiRacer's Civic unless he had my exact setup, and even then it still probably wouldn't handle or feel the same. As for the Motons, is it the actualy shocks, or the springs used with them that makes it harsh and unstreetable? And what would be the min. rate springs you could use with them?
