Question Factory XM radio

MY question is... I want to get XM radio isntalled in my 99 Z71. I have an aftermarket JVC CD player installed now (really nice), but was wondering if I got a factory CD player out of a newer GM truck (say 2003) that has the XM reciever, would it work in my truck, and how much trouble would it be to make it all work. Im not sure if the CD player itself has the XM reciever built in, I know it has the controls for it, of if the reciever would be located elsewhere in the donor vehicle. I've been looking for answers to this question for weeks. Thanks alot.

Factory XM Radio

You just need to look for what type of xm radio that JVC uses. It will either use Sirius or XM. Once you find out which type is compatible with your receiver and if your receiver will accept XM. If the receiver accepts either Sirius or XM, then all you have to do is look for a system that you like that is compatible.

Or you can just go my route and put in an aftermarket XM reciever and hook it up to your aux outputs on your JVC(prolly much cheaper since you'd have to get an antennae that is compatible with the factory head unit and that could cause a lot of trouble) I have mine hooked up to the factory(non XM) stereo with the FM modulator, but you could use your aux inputs on your JVC and have perfect sound with a lot less trouble.

Although it wouldn't be as cool as having stock XM radio, it'd save you a lot of money and time with the difficult connections.
