windstar door keypad code

I recently bought a 1995 Windstar LX. I want to program the door keypad, but have been unable to locate the permant code. Can any one tell me where to find the five digit label on the vehicle?

I have a 96 with the kepad. My wonderful dealer never was ANY help getting this working. I finally spoke to a Ford mechanic who told me where it is.

Open your glovebox and drop it all the way forward. The sides of the box bend in and did not break on mine, amazingly enough! There is a piece of white tape towards the center of the vehicle on mine that was right where the mechanic said it would be.

Of courese, mine did not work. Apparently it has been changed in non volatile memory by the first owner. I will be posting the question on how to reset it because unplugging the battery did not work.

I was also told it could be inside the back hatch, but mine was in the dash where I described.

Good luck!!

Joe

Door code

Hi guys,
here is the scoop from my '96 shop manual.

The electronic door processor has the code on it - this in addition to the warranty card and the Owners code card. I went looking on my van for the processor and located it behind the dash near where your left foot would be if you were seated in the passenger seat. You need to remove the large "horseshoe" shaped trim panel from the bottom of the dash - Two plastic screws and inserts on each side and then gently pull to unsnap the panel from the front of the dash below the cup holder. Working from the passenger floor area locate the door lock processor on the back (side facing engine) of a metal cross brace portion of the dash/pedestal frame in the center near the floor. It is a black square box appx. 3 1/2" square with three wire bundle plugs and an antenna plug much the same as an antenna on a car radio. On the face of the processor (again side facing engine) is a large white sticker with the 5 digit code on it. It is hard to see - I used a mirror and flashlight but very prominent once you see it. Using that code you should be able to reprogram your pad. Enter the permanent code, then the 1/2 button then your new code.
Your vehicle should not have lost its permanent code - there is a battery in the processor in the event of the car's battery failing. Also, according to the manual, the permanent code and/or the custom code should work at any time - ie it doesn't matter what code a previous owner might have programmed.
Good luck gents.
