Damn these mofos are bright

Just got some PIAA fog lights with 85w of pure blindness. My dude at the shop had four different sets and lined them up. He said we've got crap, crap, billy badasses, and the ultimate in God's holy light. I went with #4 They're nice and white in person, but my suck-ass camera picks up light all weird..

PIAA's actually like 15 or 20 minutes away from me, in Beaverton ,OR. It's great, if the shop doesn't have what I need in, they can have it by the end of the day as a result. Anyways, back on topic. Are they the PIAA Extereme White bulbs? I'm guessing they're H3's since they're for lights. I have the PIAA Super Plasma Bulbs (H3) http://www.piaa.com/Bulbs/Bulbs-H3.html
They are barely street legel, 5000K. They have a killer blueish-purple (kinda like audi HID's). Bright as hell. If your piaa's are either or those, yea, they're hella bright. If you got H3's check out the Super Plasma's, they are dope.

Hey guys, yeah they are bright be cool to see them white. Hey eckoman_pdx I want the lights you guys have if they look the way you say. I got PIAA xtreme white at 4150k- If yours are brighter than mine, I want those. Just curious what type of lamps do you have, projectors or regular lamp type. I have projectors that have a dark purple-ish tint to them already- I wonder what the types you have would look like in my fixtures. As long as they shine white though I want them cuz they are brighter. Also the site you linked to says that they are for foglights- is there a diff. if I use them for headlights

Re: Damn these mofos are bright

It's just like he said, a purple/blue tinted white light.
What's the 5000k you're talking about?

How much brighter is 5000K than my 4150K. Would it even be that much of a noticeable difference?

The 5000K is 5000 degrees Kelvin, it's the Color temperture. It's legal by like 100 or 200 degrees here I beleive. And ra227, the color temp is what gives it the color. I don't really know if it'll be any "brighter" pre-say. Maybe it will. But the color is different. Because of the 5000K color temp, it's a blueish-purple tinted white light, vs what you have. It looks sick, and is hella bright. It's worth every penny, IMO. Also, to the fog light question. H3 bulbs are usually a fog light size. Most projecotrs use H3 for log beams. Some you a fog light housing, some a low beam housing. The housing type changes the beram pattern to more wide or focused. But when talking normally, H3 bulbs are found in fog lights, so thats what they are advertised as. If your low-beam projectors use H3's, like most do, then you'll be fine using them in there. I mean, my low beam bulbs for the projectors are H3's, I have them in there for the low beams, they look sick. And like I said, at least up here, are still below the legal color temp, so they are legal to use too. They are very bright, much brighter than the knock off light brands. I rarly even need to use my high beams. Those PIAA Super Plasmas are very bright, and the color they shine is sick. If you put em in your projecotrs, you won't be disappointed. Also, PIAA makes more bulbs in super plasma than are listed, more than just H3's and the one other. but they are from Japan, so they have to be imported. There is a company out of Utah called Autofreak that has others, like 9005, so you can have the hiugh beams in super plasma. Most shops though only have the H3's, cuz that and the one other are all that is sold in the US.

I am guessing the point was most blue bulbs don't have an much visability as normal bulbs...but most are just about color. The $$ spemd on getting a high color temp (8000K) and not on getting good visabilty. Those PIAA's are bright as hell, show a lot or visabity too. They arn't just about color. And they last, unlike some imiation brands that burn out easy. Most blueish blubs are illegal, with a color temp of like 8000K. The PIAA's color temp is 5000K, legal, and it still has great visabilty. It's worth the $$ to get the PIAA's.
