as far as i know as long as its crash tested/rated and has all the correct fittings and is DOT approved, you can just have it bolted down, it can be just rolling around in your trunk, it must be secured.

I have been running a fuel cell in my truck for years w/o probs. However, I dont advertise it.

Make sure you get one with a sending unit.

Re: fuel cell legal on streets?

plastic fuel cell weighs like half as much as a metal one... plus they are small so in custom app's with no room for tank, you use a cell

Re: Re: fuel cell legal on streets?

would it be beneficial to remove your tank and add a fuel cell? where would be a good spot on a 4dr?

Re: fuel cell legal on streets?

IMHO, I would not put one in an ordinary daily driven car. Not even in one that sees moderate street use. You will get the fumes in the car everytime you fill up, that sucks. I am not sure that they would pass tech at a track either.

Putting a fuel cell in a moderately stock car is like putting a roll cage in a moderately stock car, it just not make sense.

first of all if it has the right markings and fittings and stuff you wont get any fumes in the car, and it def would pass track tech any time of the day.

like they said above, they are lighter than a stock tank, and in the 4th gen you can mount it right above the spare tire well.

Have you got one? The fumes come in to play when you are filling it up since its inside the car. Do you think that they are just going to go straight to the outside. Have you ever had to get a fuel cell through tech in the back of a car? I haven't and I was just wondering what your experience was.

Re: fuel cell legal on streets?

The fumes (And any unwanted atention) can be easily avioded by using the stock gas cap and running a large thick fuel grade hose to the cell. Obviously if dude has striped everything from his car he is ready for a cell.
