Question Windshield wipers

I've seen where several of you have had problems with the wipers going on for no apparent reason. Mine do that also. They also act strange at times. Going on for a few seconds when in intermittant mode and then stopping. Instead of once......once......once etc. Has anybody come up with a solution to this issue?

Rduck, I had this issue with my 96 grand caravan when I first bought it, and it lasted for 6 years, came on when ever they wanted, no one could find out what caused it, then one day the wipers didn't work at all.

Try having the body control module tested, fault may be there. After the wipers quit working we spent $300 and 6 months tracing and replacing switches, motors and such. Finally they tested the body control Module and it was bad, an additional $300 for the module and a friend put it in, fixed the wiper problem.

Re: Windshield wipers

If ever there was a ghost in the machine, it is the 96s. And Chrysler put it there. Ride On, digimon

Re: Windshield wipers

Stanmannus, I replaced the body control module, and it fixed the wiper problem. Cost $300 for the new BCM. Install quote from Dealer about $200.
I had friend at dealer, got installed for free.
Replacing the body control module also fixed problems with fan speed control, radio static.
Its been almost a year now and no issues.
Body Control module is behind the fuse panel under the driver's side dash.
You have to remove the fuse box to get to the BCM. Then remove the BCM, get the serial numbers and some other information off the box, dealer orders the replacement, programs it, one for one exchange, install the new body control module.
You have to be careful with the BCM, no static electricity, dont bump, drop, fold, spindle or mutilate.

This BCM sounds like a real pain in the you know what. Anyone know if they are in the 95's? If so, now I have a real known reason for worrying about this van my wife chose to buy (used to be her dad's), and might be able to get rid of it.

Re: Windshield wipers

'Nother thing ya might wanna check is the actual ground between the wiper motor and the body.
After awhile it gets rusted/corroded and makes an intermittent connection.
I have an '87 Caravan and I had to drill a hole in the wiper motor mounting plate for another ground connection and run another ground wire to the body-previously my wipers had started acting weird/stopping when I needed them most.

Hi there guys,
I just bought this 96 3.3L Two months ago,and the wipers go on a couple of pulses each time I roll down or up the windows. Later it started to come on whenever it likes with the switch off, now today it came on after I left the garage and stayed on all day I had to lift the arms so it wouldn`t damamge the windshield. By the way i went to check the alternator yesterday, and when the electrician applied load to check the alternator they came on as soon as the load was high. HELP!!!
