Talking LS6 HYDRO Progress!!!!!

Summary: Hull fitment poor. Sanded out all the mold and indentions in the hull with 60, 100, 150, 240, and 600grit paper to get a nice smooth hull, also used testor's contour putty to smooth the hull line. I'll be using the 454 LS6 v8 in the boat (no problems, plenty space). The 392 hemi it came with is going in a ram 50 truck. I'll keep posting progress when I can.

Here you can see the fitment line filled and sanded smooth

It is a ski boat, Inboard motor boat, no jet propusion. Personally, I was thinking of converting it to Inboard/Outboard, and scratch building an outdrive, but I had too many problems with this as it is, maybe this pic will help. As you can see in the pic, it has a 392 Hemi (swapping for a S/C LS6 454) connected to a v-drive that turns the drive shaft and the propeller.

Nice bateau dude, you should paint it to match the truck, with some 454 decals along the side, that'd be sweet looking

Re: LS6 HYDRO Progress!!!!!

I added the stability fin (nasty in chrome so some 60 grit and worked my way up to remove it) yet theres a lil hole on the side of the fin, so more contour putty and I'll work on it more later on. As far as decals go, I was thinking of on the back, removing the HEMI part and replacing it with LS6, or 454. To have something like: 454~HYDRO ; or: LS6~HYDRO. Paint, I'm thinking gloss black, don't see too many boats with metal flake (at least that last a while, or I'll do gloss white. I'm feeling the black though.

Talking

More good updates. Well here's some pics of what it looks like so far. I had some fog lamps with the 454SS (used some from a stang), that I had to use for tailamps. They're chrome, so I'll need to paint the lamps red. I decided, I'm going to detail this a lil, so I added a safety belt on the wench, and will make a hook for the end of it, and a u-bolt on the front from some paper clips, thank god for super glue. I also decided, I'm going to add wire's for the tail lamps and run them under the trailer. The wheels that come with this kit, are ugly as, well you know. So I had some 1/24 18'' 5spoke rims laying around (only 2), need to find something for spare. They need some cleaning up, but I'll take care of that, so far the trailer is 92% give or take done. I've been working on the engine trying to get it just right, It's taking time, but will be nice when done.

Like I said, My orginal plan was to convert this to inboard/outboard and build a outdrive from scratch, but I've put too much into this to end up screwing it up, maybe my next one will be inboard outboard. BTW, I've decided on Gloss White with Pearl Clear coat for the hull's color, I saw a i/o galaxy the otherday at the local boat launch that had a TT 502 chevy in it with headers sticking out, it was gloss white, and fine as fine could be.

Re: Re: Re: Re: LS6 HYDRO Progress!!!!!

oh yeah, I left out some things. I'm constructing an engine cover from 30-thous. styrene card to cover the engine, and v-drive pieces. It'll be removable so yo can see the glorious 454.
