Whooshing engine
Recently purchased a new 325i (2003) - Steptronic. I recently noticed a whooshing sound from the engine especially in the lower gears. Is this usual or should I be concerned?
Have patience with a first timer. |

Re: Whooshing engine
No. It actually sounded like a fan but I believe there was a drain of power while it was happening. The car wouldn't accelerate as powerfully as before. But once I got to the higher gears it seemed to stop.

I have a 2003 330CI and that sound you hear is the mechanical plastic fan . It will run briefly until warm and then when the engine heats up it will run for a short period of time (approx.10 secs.) If it runs longer than that at any time you should have it checked. The elctric fan usually regulates the temp. on it's own. Hope this explains it!
