My 744 engine stops suddenly
I was driving along the motorway when , for no reason, the engine cut out. A little scary but I manged to pull over and start it again.
When I restarted, at one point it was lumpy like it was missfiring. Then it was OK on the next start. It did it about 3 more times then it seemed OK and the problem went for 3-4 weeks with no re-occurence so I put it down to fuel conmtamination due to leaving it till the 31 miles light comes on adn in some cases getting to --- (working on that). This last week, it did it again but this time in the blidning rain coming down from a trip up North, it suddenly conked out in the fast lane. Good job the traffic was dense in some ways, I pulled over the the mid land and managed to restart it. Since then, the engine lacks performance and when I start it, it splutters and does not start 3 - 4 times. Even when it does it feels lumpy and is missing performance. Some one said it could be a chip problem? Is it the on board computer? Can anyone help? I have read the forum posts about dealers so thanks, I will not be going there. I use a local dealer who is about 70% cheaper.# Any ideas what could this be? Thanks for any ideas or advice Ronny G |
