Okay, I have a 91 R32. Please tell me if I'm right or wrong. With this HICAS system, I know their are a lot of sensors and if one these sensor goes bad somwhere it will create a lot of chaos for the HICAS system, but it should not cause the power steering pump to stop working. As of right now my idiot light is on and the power steering is not working, wich means the HICAS is not getting fluid and is tripping the idoit light. I have tried to get it to go into diagnotics and have not been able to get it to work. My conclusion is that I need to go down to the local junk yard and replace my power steering pump. If any one has any other ideas please help before I hit the junk yard. Oh the skyline drives normal except I have to use a little muscle around the tight corners.

Yo D,
While your at the junk yard, can you pick me a couple of reverse light covers, the ones by the licence plate. My wife backed into something, and busted them on my R32. And yes, you are on the right track.

Re: Another HICAS ?
Actually, first thing you should do when you hicas light starts acting up is to check you alternator voltage and your battery. This is the most common contributing factor to the hicas light. I rarely have to change computers for this, but quite often the alternator can over-charge or under-charge, resulting in the problem you are experiencing.
Try the battery first though, as weather and temp changes will affect them the most. A battery for a skylin costs less than 20 bucks anyways for the 40B19L.
