Lightbulb Building a Hasegawa Safari Rally Datsun Bluebird?? This might help...

Since there's been a couple of threads regarding detail pictures to assist in making an acurate model I thought I'd post this. Hasegawa make a very detailed 1/24 kit of the Datsun Bluebird SSS (Datsun 510) that won the 1970 East African Safari Rally.
A couple of years ago Neko publishing did a feature in "Model Cars" magazine with detail pics of the real car. I asked permission to put them on my website a while back and they said yes. They would be pretty useful if anyone wants to make a really accurate model of this car. I can supply bigger scans and other pictures if neccesary. You can check them out HERE

Hope someone can use this

Thanks for the info. I have the kit and intend to build it one day. Having these reference shots will make things a lot easier.

No problem, I can dig out a lot more pics of this car from my collection. If you need them just PM me. I've got one of these kits waiting to be done too one day

It's a great kit, not like most of the older stuff. There's PE parts, mesh and the molding is first rate. The only things that are missing are some of the interior details like the spare wheels in the back etc. I got two kits just so i'd have enough wheels

With a little effort you could build a 1969 Safari Bluebird too... just a few minor differences and some of the decals would need to be made.

If I can find the copy of Model Cars, I'll scan some stuff. That particular issue had a feature on Datsun Rally cars with some pretty cool 1/24 plastic, some of it scratch built. There was even a 1/24 Nissan 240RS model... I'd love to find one of those!
