Trany for a v8 swap?

ok i know most people recomend the 4 speed muncie or preferably the 5 speed getrag for v8 swaps but they arnt strong enough for as much hp i am putting in the car.....
does anyone know if a cadilac auto trans will fit? just wondering cause its a front wheel drive trany and can hold 4-600 hp stock
if you dont know if this will fit anyone know any other ones that will work and be reliable with 400+ hp
Im planning on putting in a fuel injected Lt1 with a chip (383HP), + good intake headers, flowmaster exhaust, a good ignition, port the heads etc then possibibly if needed a turbo anyway to make a long story short i should be right around 450Hp which from what i know neither the 4 or the 5speed will handle it. So if u know of any good tranys even if its not the cadi one please let me know

I don't know, to me sounds like you need some custom job. Ask these people for the e-mail address to the guy who used to make engine cradles for the fiero. If you can then you could also upgrade the suspension with the cradle as well as have a really flexible option for what tranny you want to use since he sets the engine longitudinal. So you could probably strap a VW transaxle (the heavy duty ones that they use on the trucks) to your LT1. Or if you don't mind going Toyota, try swaping in a turbo 3S engine from a MR2 I've seen those over 400 hp.

why will the Isuzu not work, I know of a few guys that could prove you wrong and one of them is Archie, he almost always uses the 5 speed isuzu. The Isuzu is a good transaxle with a good gear ratio, better high miles than the Getrag! The Isuzu has one problem, the shift forks are made soft so if you miss a shift at a high RPM it can or may bend, plus the Isuzu is alot cheaper to find.
