Audiobahn ALUM series
These subs are dual 6 ohm voice coils, now I am at a loss as how to wire them together, I have two of them. Is it like wiring a normal amp this way? how do you know amps can handle this power, etc?

Re: Audiobahn ALUM series
with 2 dual 6 subs you can wire them to : 1.5ohm, 6ohm, 24ohm
Find a 1ohm stable amp that puts out 50% more power than you need at 1ohm say you needed 1000 watts between the 2 subs, then get a 1500x1@1ohm amp 1500 watts @ 1ohm = 1000 watts @ 1.5ohm ^ just an example so you can see what I mean by 50% more power than you need ^

I am just wondering, what would be the ideal way 2 push 2200 watts(total or less) to two of these 6 ohm DVC subs?

yeah not many people are a fan of this brand, but i have heard a horror story about these subs on my other forum.
this one guy had one alum sub pushed at its rms, whatever it is, and after about 2 hours the sub's cone melted, i dunno how to explain it. if were you i wouldn't have chosen these subs, but if you like the sound i'm not gonna tell you what you like, its all a matter of opinion. all im saying is be carful the first couple of times you run them you might want to check up on them every 15 to 30 minutes. i really don't have any advice to you except to wire each sub itself in parallel, then parallel the two subs, if that makes any sence whatsoever. |

you could allways get two sepirate amps with 2 ohm ratings wire them to 3 ohm each sub. possibly not the best way to wire them but could be cheeper in some situations to get a pair of mid/high watt amps vs 1 verry high watt amp

the aluminum cones are a good idea in theory, they are light and rigid. Although some companies (including audiobahn) have had problems at times in keeping the surround glued to the aluminum cone
