Question for the Merlin

My 92 has high mileage and I've replaced a lot of things. It runs great, but it leaks oil. I replaced both valve covers and it helped, but theres still a leak. I've read up that they use the same block as older cars that had a distributer, but since this has a distributerless system, is there a cap or cover that goes over the spot where the distibuter use to go? If so, could there be potential for a leak here? I have some books that have saved me a ton, but I can't really find any info. Any help would be greatly appreciated. -I

I guess it's 3.1 ? If so could be the "dummy shaft" seal. Look under the I guess you could call it the throttle plate where the fresh air tube connects to the engine. towards the rear of the engine near where the tranny bolts up. There is an O ring in there.

Im surprised I didnt see this thread earlier. YES, the distributor "plug" is a serious leak spot on the v6 engines. Go to a dealer and tell them you need the o ring for it and ask them about a flat round gasket that goes under the plug as well. They should know what you're talkin about cuz they sell 'em ALL the time.
To get to it, is kind of a pain... You have to remove the throttle body (a job in itself) to get to it.
To take out the throttle body remove the intake hose, disconnect the throttle cable, tranny kickdown cable, and cruise cable (if you have one) Thats all easy stuff though, theres two coolant lines attached to the bottom of it. You have to take those off to get it out of the way. I would take out the bolts that hold it to the plenum first and then attack the coolant hoses. You will have more room to work with the throtle body not attached to the plenum.
