Vin Number

My JDM D15B just came in today and it doesn't have the Black Valve Cover like the rest i see. It is silver like the D16y8 but it says D15B on the block. It Says Vtec on the cover too. So if anyone could tell me how to tell by the Vin # what year and model it is it would be appreciated

if you have the actual VIN number check it here: http://members.lycos.nl/hendrik/honda/vin.htm

dont just use those 9 numbers that are under the d15b stamp, thats not a vin.

the vtec solenoid is on the head on the side of the transmission. its a little round thing with one wire coming out.

if that is what you have then its almost like a ls/vtec, you get more hp at higher rpms.

I know what a vtec selinoid is. and what you are talking about is a MiniMe swap. My motor is a SOHC JDM D15B that comes with 130hp and over 150tq. It is supposed to be vtec from the factory but I was wondering which model it is because there are 3 different models of vtec in japan vtec, vtec-e, and 3-stage vtec. The 3stage came in the 96-00 model civic Vti and the regular vtec was in the 92-95 civic i'm trying to figure out which one I have. Thanks anyways.

the numbers under the engine code is just a serial number, its just like any kind of serial number, tells where it was made and when, although i dont know how to decipher them.

Thanks anyways.
"and what you are talking about is a MiniMe swap not the ls/vtec" do you wanna quote me on that? cuz i never said it was an ls/vtec. i said almost, same theory. if i didnt know what i was talking about i wouldnt be talking at all. i have a freaking ls vtec sitting in my garage (u want pictures, ask). u said u had a silver valve cover, not the black one. then you have a 96-00 SOHC VTEC head. as for which vtec u have, figure that one on ur own.

Re: Re: Re: Vin Number

Thanks for being a 2 year old, why the f*&k would i want to look at pictures of an ls/vtec? Just because the valve cover is silver doesn't mean its from 96-00 either. Especially since its a JDM motor because that one only said HONDA across it. Obviously you don't know what your talking about. You may know about the Ls/Vtec but other than that with your snide remarks your probably are 16 and your mommy gave you your car.

First of all there is no need for profanity. Somebody should ban your ass for talkin like that. 2nd of all I never said I didn't know what type of motor I had. If I didn't know what it was I wouldn't have ordered it. I just had some questions qbout the valve cover because it was different than the rest. Then you come on saying its a Y8 head and they don't even use the y8 head on the JDM D15b, they use the z6. You may know alot about the Ls/Vtec but other than that you should keep your mouth shut if you don't know what your talkin about. 3rd of all I love my 4th gen and will probobly continue to keep it till I die or get hit by another vehicle. I DON'T WANT ANYTHING BETTER. In my opinion there is nothing better. Yeah I do have a dumped 91 hatch, dont get all bitter cuz yours is probobly sitting stock with a big wing on the back and ricer stickers everywhere. I wouldn't even justify your childish name calling but you're nuthing but a loser that has an Ls/Vtec (in his garage) that knows not what he is talking about.

Sory to anyone that had to read this childness
