louder sr intake

i just took off the cai extension today cause it rained and will only rain more as the season goes on. and i was driving around a bit and it sounds the same until vtec, then its way louder than before. is that added volume just noise or is there actually a performance gain? i wouldnt mind losing a hp or two to keep that sound. it sounds alot better with the sr, real mean. almost scared me... and i was the one driving

Re: louder sr intake

The short-ram is slighty louder(shorter pipe / less bends) & seems even more loud because its closer to the passenger compartment. Remove the air filter for more noise. SR sucks in hot air which reduces power slightly compared to CAI - not enough to notice. Louder always seems faster.
