Angry New advertising

I understand that the money from advertising is part of what makes this site tick, but these new ads in the yellow blocks suck bad.

Even on my 19" monitor it still makes the forum main page small enough to be a pain to read, I dread to think what it will be like when I get on my laptop at home.

Isn't there a better alternative Igor? Please....for the sake of my eyesight.

It's better now thanks, the original width really threw everything off badly, so the advertising was half the width of the forum menu.

I should have taken a screen shot of the original but didn't think to.

I will have to see how it is on my laptop though, I think fluid nature of the forum menu may effect it too though since the ad's size isn't fluid.

Now it's fine though, thanks for listening to us Igor.

Re: New advertising

The new ads are really distracting. Couldn't you put them at the bottom, or somewhere where they wouldn't push everything over?

i totally agree. even if they were on the left side maybe instead of the right, that would seem more "natural", since most forums that have advertising or navigation bars have them on the left side of the posts. but i think on top or bottom would be best. as it is now, it still squishes my screen a good bit and i don't even feel like i'm on AF anymore.

All of the above. I'll just be blunt and say it fucks everything up being on the side, I hate it.

I also agree. It's very rough on the eyes, with everything congested and awkward. It has also seemed to slow down the speed of AF on my computer, whereas other sites I visit run just fine.

Re: New advertising

Agree! I HATE the advetising down the side. Please get rid of it. I have no problem with advetising at the top or bottom of the pages, but not so it reduces the space left for posts.

I'd even say that placing the ads there is counterproductive to the paying advertisers. No way am I going to click through a banner if it's position is annoying the hell out of me.

Now I am on my laptop at home and I am back to a AF forum area of a size relative to a postage stamp, the advertising down the side is really not a benefit to AF.

I didn't mean to start a thread that turned into a rant session, but I think the consensus is that we don't like it down the side.

Re: New advertising

Very distracting. Started thread in mods corner without thinking to look here. Top or bottom of the screen if at all possible, Iggy.
