Thinking about getting a 2003 or 2004 Accord Sedan

Here are my main concerns:

#1 Safety
#2 Reliability
#3 Mid-size vehicle

That's pretty much all I care about. I've been dead set on getting an accord since they did so well in safety, but JDPower has them listed as average in terms of mechanical quality or something like that. I've always thought accords were extremely reliable, did that change with 2003/2004s? Anyone have any idea what other cars I should be looking at? Remember, safety is my #1 concern. Thanks!

There's where it says it. Funny though, if I pick long-term reliability the accord is ranked #2. I guess it is reliable but doesn't really stand out in terms of mechanical quality?

Anyone have a 2003 with complaints or praise? Is there any reason I should get the 2004 instead of the 2003???

Interesting question.
My suggestion would be to forget about the 03 or 04 Accord and go with a 1984 Chevrolet Chevette or 1984 Pontiac T-1000.
