Mercury Capri

I noticed that there is no Listing for a Capri under "Mercury". So I was thinking maybe, if there is anyone else who has a Capri, we could try to start talking on this thread. I have a 93 Mercury Capri. So if there is anyone out there with a Capri, LETS TALK!!!!

Well, you asked for it, Here's a few of my 79 Capri RS 5.0

Modified w/ 3/4 race cam, t-5 trans, 4-11 posi rear, Holley carb, Manifold, headers, sidepipes, fiberglass hood,... on & on

Started out brand new 5.0 (302) RS w/ Bright red & black paint, 4speed

Had a 4 color custom paint job put on in 1984. Was so refelective, had a mirror finish.

I don't know a whole lot about engine stuff, but it sounds real nice. Capri's must be good on mileage cause I know a whole lot of people close to 200,000 miles. Mine's a 93 and it's got 99,000 right now. And still running good. I'm trying to upgrade the engine, in some ways. I'm getting a digital camera pretty soon, and I'll post some pictures of my Capri. I just put some Chrome dual Monza Tips on it a week ago. Right now I'm saving up money to get a spoiler and a different paint job. Right now it's sky blue. But I want to get it painted Indigo Blue or Electron Metallic Blue. I like the paint job on yours, it looks nice. I tried to get headers for my capri but they don't make headers for it. They say the only way really that I can upgrade the engine is to work with the ecu components. And thats something I really don't want to touch.

You mean a Boss block? What year block/engine? Which Cobra heads?
Have you verified the head and engine ID numbers? Normally those heads and that engine do not go together.

Re: Mercury Capri

Even "Cobra" valve covers sounds curious. What year "Boss" engine are you talking about? Is this the late 70's, early 80's 302 with the "Boss" package, or do you have a Cleveland headed Boss? Are the exhaust bolts in line or staggered?

just bought a capri 92 capri

We just picked up a 1992 Capri it is stratosphere blue with white soft top. 2 plus 2 seating 1.6 liter engine 5 speed manual transaxle. It needed some mechanical work. We purchased it as a first car for our 16 year old. We will post pics later after some of the work is done. We have found that going to a ford dealer for any help is useless for this car. We found a mechanic that is good with imports for help.

mercury capri

my 302 smokes when I start it up and then stops. it has been sitting for awhile and it needs an oil change. there isnt alot of miles on it. it has been rebuilt not to long ago. I think the valve guides are shot. what else could be the problem, if it's that how much money do you think it would cost to fix?
