Question Nissan Silvia (S13) VS Skyline GTS (R32)

Hey howz it everyone?
I'm buyin a car soon and I dunt know what car I should buy?!
I always have liked Nissan Skyline's but only type I can afford is Skyline GTS (R32), I just loved the looks and all but my love for Skyline is gettin old. I have seen lots of Skylines around in Christchurch, New Zealand but I hardly ever see Nissan Silvia.

I look at some cars and I happen to see a 1994 Nissan Silvia Q's but I couldn'tafford it so I decided to go down some years 1991/1992 Nissan Silvia S13 with **SR20-DE** Engine.
(Affordable for a student)

~1998cc EFI DOHC 16-valve 4cyl
~119kW@6400rpm (108kW FWD)
188Nm@4800rpm (178Nm FWD)
~-RWD 5-speed - 4 sp auto -FWD 5-speed

And I think 1992-1993 Nissan Skyline GTS have **RB20-DE** Engine. ( Affordable for me)

~1998cc EFI DOHC 24-valve 6 cyl
~116kW@6400rpm
~184Nm@5200rpm
~-RWD 5spd -4spd auto

I have study on these two cars but I am still a newbie, I dunt know what car gives better perfomance.

One thing I know is Skyline is heavier cuz of the engine so Silvia is faster but my knowledge tells me it has a weaker engine?!

This is going to be my first car and I dont know what I should look for in a car... They both have similar horse power and both same price that I can afford.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I get my restricted license (on Auto), I can only drive Auto but I want to drive Manual but 85% people I know failed restricted license several times. I need a car asap and I dunt have time to learn how to drive well in Manual. (I mean well as in slow so I can pass my license, I like to travel fast.)

If I pass Auto restricted license I decided to get a car that day but it has to be an auto if I fail I will sit in restricted next time.
( I dunt know anyone who would lend me a working Manual car so.. yea)

Anywayz sorry for talkin s-h-i-t , I dunt know if i do get an auto is it worth modifiying it or is it waste of money on an auto car?
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So EVERYONE, GIVE ME YOUR INFO AND OPINION on what car I should get for my first car, 1991-1992 Nissan Silvia (S13) or Skyline GTS (R32).

I think Skyline GTS is not worth money because it is not GTS-T or GTR or GT4, I like the look of Skyline, quiet SEXY!

Silvia is not that good lookin as Skyline however faster...

Re: Nissan Silvia (S13) VS Skyline GTS (R32)

I would recommend getting a PORSCHE man forget the imports. If you really are going to get an import get the skyline R34.

Yea~ I dunt have that kind of money to get a porshe and what is wrong with Imports? For a cheap price soem cars are good as european cars and sometimes its better then European cars.

ANywayz U said Silvia's are ugly.
Silvia is cheap and the one im getting is Non-turbo vs Skyline GTS non turbo. SO what do u go for?

For a light car and cheap it would be silvia or spend a lil more money and get a good lookin car as well as stronger engine but just a lil more expensive.

I was wondering something, do you have to pause and think about replacing 's' with 'z' or 'you' with 'u' or are you guys just really bad at spelling and/or typing?

Red face Skyline

Oi Higgimonster, do u pause and think about why u r gay? Wat sort of faggot writes shit like that, we type wat eva the fuk we like. So fuk U, u R an aZZhole.

If u r getting a stock skyline or silvia, definately go the skyline dude. Standard silvias r even more of an embarrasment. Silvia look cheap and stock ones just make you want to laugh, gutless
Skylines r way beta man. Id rather buy a nonturbo skyline then a turbo silvia!!!!
go the skyline dude.

I thought R32 skylines ran on RB25DE engine?? If that's the case, then I'd most likely take the skyline.. but if its the RB20, I'd might have to consider..

Re: Nissan Silvia (S13) VS Skyline GTS (R32)

ok, i didn't call a porsche an import, though it is imported from another country. both japan and germany are foreign countries, so cars from their country would be foreign, and the act of recieving shipped goods from another country is called importing-correct me if i'm wrong here.

and i'm not your son.

The RB25DE engine was offered on the last of the R32's, and all of the R33's and R34's. There are no RB26DE's, on RB26DETT's. Most R32's have the RB20, but some of the later ones, I'm not sure which year, went to the 2.5 liter. However pertaining to this guy's choice, mine would be neither. I live in Japan and own a S13 Q's Silvia and it handles awesome but it's not quick at all. NA Skylines handle like crap and they're not quick at all. So between these two choices, get the Silvia. At least it handles good. People just hear the word "Skyline" and think it's the fastest, lightest, most technologically advanced thing on earth. The Silvia will be much more fun to drive.

Re: Nissan Silvia (S13) VS Skyline GTS (R32)

Sorry I didn't proofread. I meant no RB26DE's or RB26DET's, only RB26DETT's. And my choice of neither meant that I would only get a turbo model of either car. However, since you may not be an experienced driver, an S13 Q's Silvia will probably be a great car for you.

Re: Nissan Silvia (S13) VS Skyline GTS (R32)

go with the silvia... it not only has the same capacity and a few more kilowatts, its much lighter. u r right, u cant push the engine as hard because it isn't cast iron its alloy and also it doesnt have direct valve actuation like the CA/RB series engines so its high RPM durability is worse. other than that, it is a much better choice.
