I just bought a 1998 Camaro Z28 (if you cant figure that out by my name already). Anyhow, I went to my local mechanic in town here, and asked about headers, and cat-back, and every kind of system out there. Anyhow, he says that if I dont supercharge it, which I'm not planning on, just to go with high flow cats and a better muffler. He tried to talk me into an Xlerator, but I've also been looking at Flowmaster 80, or something from SLP. Any ideas??

What I recommend to everyone, a Loudmouth catback from SLP

I also heard about Ravin mufflers?? Are they any good? My mechanic also said that hp gains will not change much if I just put on the muffler, rather than the whole cat-back.

If you're gonna be doing the whole exhaust at some point, why not just switch out what you can while the car is up on the lift???
I had a Ravin muffler on my 95 V6 Camaro. I was happy with the way it sounded. I don't have any experience with it on a V8 though...

Well, I would love to do that, but i'm only 16-- I have no money
. My dad will put some in, but not close to what i would need for loudmouth or any other cat back, unless you can hook me with something I can afford.

My personal opinion... Dont do something that you are gonna wanna change in the future save up and do it right the first time. Even if it takes you 3-4 months to save up for a loudmouth exhaust from SLP, that is what I would do. Because when you do get it, it's gonna sound bad ass and you will know it was worth the wait. And no other kid your age will have it. Just take it slow, you got lots of time for mods, especially if your only 16. Just get used to driving the car the way it is.

How can a 16 year old kid afford a Z28 anyways? I had to save up every pay check I earned for 2 months to afford the down payment on my 01 V6.
Bastard. If you want cheap but cool..get Flows. 80 series sounds nice and loud, 50's are throaty and quiet. |

I got my LM exhaust for $325 shipped from Mike at www.stealthperf.com. Not too pricey at all, and half as much as a Borla or GMMG...

StingRay.. This car has had damage, a kid owned it before me, had it fixed-- poorly, and so i got a good deal on it. My dad is helping me for now, but I'm paying him back. Also, I wouldn't just assume I'm a basterd without knowing the facts, thanks..

I was just teasing you
Word of advice. I'm an ass. Take everything I say with a spoonful of sugar and everything's fine. How do you afford the INSURANCE is the real question :P I was paying like 370 a month for the first 6 months I had my V6 |

Alright.. I'll remember that. Its actually insured under his name, so I cant mess up. I'm going to put it away over the winter, too, because its not worth keeping the car insured over the winter here in SD, as it would be right near impossible (and stupid) to be driving around in the snow-- I would wreck it for sure trying to get around.
