Hi guys,
I'm new to this board and for the past few days have been searching and browsing like mad, so now I feel like I know a GSX pretty well. I have a couple questions that I haven't been able to find the answers to when searched.... #1: Just picked up the IT magazine today. Looked pretty good because they had an Eclipse in there, and I figured that if I'm going to get one, might as well get a magazine that has something about it. I also saw that they have a hop-up article on the Eclipse. It consisted of a APEXi N1 downpipe, HKS FKD (fuel cut defenser, what is it?), and a 255lph fuel pump. They claim that on their Dynamic Dyno the peak hp was 183.6, and the peak tq was 198.6. After these mods, they got 290.3 hp and 278.4 tq... what were they smoking? I'm new to this whole car business and still haven't built up an engine or car yet, but I think I know enough to see that this is crazy, even if the Eclipse responds well to mods... 90hp from 3 mods???? ![]() #2: What is the gas milage for a GSX? I'm looking at the 2nd gen (95-98/awd/turbo, right?) Eclipse. What milage would you get if you were pumping 290-300 hp? Thanks! |

ok first thing is the GSX has 210hp stock - 214ft lbs of tq so somethings wrong with this picture!!! and 80 hp is still a lot from those 3 mods...
i believe (But i am not for sure!) that the fuel cut defencer would be to correct the governer, which would make is so it there is not governer... but the GSX doesnt have a governer from the factory!!! for the other questions i am not sure about cause i dont have a GSX but the 2g GSX is a nice car... hope you like it!!! |

to the best of my knowledge, fuel cut is related to the amount time the TPS is at WOT, after a certain length of time there is a fuel cut that shuts the car down, a fuel cut defencer routes around this.
"ok first thing is the GSX has 210hp stock - 214ft lbs of tq so somethings wrong with this picture!!" that is for a 2G DSM. the article he is refering to is in Import Tuner which is doing the mods on a 1G(92 Talon Tsi i think AWD). in stock trim their dyno read the Talon at 157.2 HP and 143.4 TQ. then they threw on the following Apexi N1 cat-back, HKS power flow filter, and some hyper ground wires(these mods were done three issues earlier) with these mods the car dyno'ed at 183.6 HP and 170 TQ. in the issue the thread starter is refering to they did the following additional mods DP, FCD, and 255lph fuel pump and the car put down 290.3 HP and 278.4 TQ. i still find this questionable without an MBC. but now this thread has been corrected for further discussion.
