Hi everyone.. I'm new to this forum and already have a question..

Hi There...

I'm the proud "new" owner of a slightly used, fully loaded, 2002 GTP.. I'm a longtime, mulitiple Grand Prix owner.. Going all the way back to a high compression, leaded premium gas use'n, fake hotrod smoke'n, 1969 Model SJ.. One serious torque monster..

I love my GTP except for one thing... I was admiring my car as my wife drove it away from the house.. And I noticed the exhaust note sounded like a "putt-putt 4 banger"... Is this normal ?? If so,what can I do about it.. I want a sound befitting it's musclecar looks.. Thanks...

So Long...

Now you know why I've got a Supercharged Grand Prix..

replace you mufflers or replace the whole exhaust piping with 3". Should make it sound like its got big balls.

Exhaust note is mainly dictated by the engine's displacement and architecture ( i.e. V-Twin, I-4, I-6, V-6, V-8). In other words, there are limitations in tuning the sound of an exhaust. However, you can try to install a larger diameter pipe, as recommended by JJubeck, and install a Glass Pack resonator before it reaches the aftermarket muffler.

Hi There...

Thanks for the responses.. But that leads to another question.. On Mustangs any, ANY aftermarket mufflers you put on them.. Will cause "resonation".. Where you get this droning sound inside the car..
Do after market stuff for GP's cause this problem ???

Thanks..
Jeff

Pretty much. I have the MSP catback that uses Hooker Aerochamber mufflers. The Drone is bad at 2k rpm, I like it and have gotten used to it

I think the Borla catback is one of the few that people say doesnt drone bad.

Good luck

Tim
