how to install a tachometer on a 90 ciera

does any one know how to install a tachometer on a cutlass ciera. I was told that it is a wire coming from the coil pac. just want to make sure. I just wan to monitor my rpm's. there are ten wires 7 on one side 3 on the other side. Some one told me that it is one of the three. is there any way to test the wires. please help a cutlass lover.

Re: how to install a tachometer on a 90 ciera

aaronham, I have a 1993 Olds Cutlass Ciera S, and I installed an aftermarked tachometer sucessfully. On your DIS Ignition pack, there is a white wire that carries the tach signal. If that doesn't work, a purple wire with a grey stripe also carries the signal (assuming you have the 3.3L engine like I have). Also, if you are interested in modding your 3.3 to 210 HP, I can help you with that as well.

Delivery driver wants 210 hp

Hell yea, how do you accomplish the 210. Also i was thinking about replacing my instrument panel with another one. I only have the speedometer and would like the full instrument pannel, because everything else is optical warning rather then analog. Any suggestions?

Re: how to install a tachometer on a 90 ciera

I too would like to have a aftermarket tach on my 93 ciera with 3.3l. I have a total of 10 wires (5 on driver side 5 on passenger side) coming out of my C3I ignition pack. Which wire do I need? thanx in advance.

Re: Delivery driver wants 210 hp

Like in my post above, you want the white wire. The white wire carries the tach signal.

Re: how to install a tachometer on a 90 ciera

thanx but I took a dash from an '89 ciera deluxe cluster with the four circle guages and that has tach. Cieras are prewired for the tach so buy a deluxe cluster and swap it in. Just make sure donor vehicle has same engine and it will work properly dont waste your time with aftermarket tach. My 1993 3.3 ciera s has a tach now and with my flowmaster exhaust/hiflow cat and other mods im probably at 200 hp. Come see a-body.net for this and other performance mods for your ciera.
