Check to see if the air duct flap that allows cold/hot air is working, flip it back and forth, see if you hear a noise of it moving.

I had a 86 4Runner with the same problem last year so I bought a radiator flush from Checker Auto. Then I reversed the flow of the fluid going to the radiator core because they can get pluged up. The way to do that is to switch the 2 coolant hoses going inot the core by the fire wall. If all goes well you should notice in like an hour or 2 within doing the switch. then run another flush through it. I would drive it around like that for a couple of days. And It won't hurt the core in anyway. If that doesn't work then it could be your radiator core is gone bad.

Your thermostat could be stuck open, if that happened, it would take a LONG time for it to get hot air.

Yeh it could be your thermostat or low coolant.

I thought we were talking about the heater/AC inside his car, guys... not his engine cooling system.
What exactly does the thermostat or antifreeze have to do with the heater?

And that's the question I asked for you to answer. I don't know yet.. I haven't torn that part of my car apart yet, and never had to work on the heater before.... therefore please explain so those of us who don't know may understand how it works better and be able to fix it next time.
I just never have really thought about it or questioned it before.

I think there's a valve on the supply line to the heater core. Check the valve and the pushrod to the valve.

I just never have really thought about it or questioned it before.

You put fluid in your radiator. it goes into the head of the motor circulating throughout the whole motor and then out of the block and into the heater core back out of the heater core then back to the radiator. The heat from the motor makes the coolant hot then it goes to the heater core making your car oh so warm in the winter ( if it works ) and thats the just of it, I probably left out something but that is it for the most part. If your thermostat is stuck open the block never heats and that would mean the core doesn't get hot enough coolan. Almost all thermostats that I know of when they fail they fail in the open position, so coolant can flow making sure the car won't overheat. If I forgot anything LMK
