Question MTX vs. JL

What do you guys think? 2 MTX 8000 or 2 JL 10w3v2??? Normally, this would be an easy choice, but I'm not too sure about this one because I just blew two original JL 10w3 and am now a bit weary. Post a response!

I would say MTX, haven't delt with JL Audio though. I heard Memphis is good but over priced.
My

Good luck...

Re: MTX vs. JL

JL definitely. How did you blow your JL's? What amp are you running and how do you have your subs wired?

Why do you say that? I've been using MTX amps for 5 years now and see nothing wrong with them.
I am looking for new ones though, give me alittle info about JL and I might consider them.

every person i have ever run into that had an mtx sub has been disappointed with it. 2 of my close friends blew theirs within a week of getting them, and they were wired correctly.

now, IMHO, JL speakers sound really muddy and not too crisp. havent heard too many complaints about them though.

mtx amps on the other hand=

Re: MTX vs. JL

One the contrary, MTX did used marketing strategy to claim the 9500 as a W7-killer. Infact, They only advertice what they think will out-perform the W7. Yet most of them isn't an advantage over the W7. Remember, there is always a trade off so what looks good may not be good unless you fully understand the driver and it's dynamics.

from what i heard jl has better sq than mtx whereas mtx is more into spl. so its kinda what ur interested in. for me i would go with jl's since they had never ever let me down. currently i have 3 jl w0's and the bass is quite decent, although i think whats hurting the sound is the amp. im using a pioneer amp bridged to 300 watts rms, but it sounds more like 100 rms. i had a 12 w4 and man did it hard people swore i had like two or three subs in my trunk.

Re: MTX vs. JL

Ive been using mtx products-amps and subs for almost 3 years now and not a single problem! the MTX amps are very underrated and quit nice. the subs....as long as you get the 8000 series are awsome, very chrisp clean sound, and hit hella hard. the JL's are usually very muddy but hit decently hard as well. just my 2 cents.
