O/D Light Blinking. It's annoying!!

I'm new around here, so I apologize if this has been posted 12,345,832 times before but...

On the dash, the "O/D Off" light is blinking. No idea. Car seems to be working fine. When you toggle the O/D button, you can tell that the over drive engaged, but that stupid light is still blinking!

Anyone have any ideas?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I know this is a litte late but. My car was doing that same thing, with the flashing O/D Light. I hate to tell you this but, my car just DIED tonight. Left me stranded. Cause my over drive burnt up my tranny. So now I have to get a new one or rebuild this one which sucks. At a dealer your looking about $2500.00 to fix it. Ebay has a CD4E on there for $800.00, which i'm probably going to buy one and to it myself. Hope your's lasts longer than mine has, Good Luck.

Same here. Tranny shop said to bring it in when it happens, not to shut the car off when I pull in (because it stops blinking when the car is turned off and turned back on again) and have it scoped. Tech said there's an o/d and speed sensor in there that he's seen go out in these cars.

However, I've talked to many Mistake owners and although it could be a simple sensor replacement, considering the car, it's more than likely the big repair that's needed. I've got mine offered for sale for $700 for parts right now. Can't seem to give it away!! The dealership I bought it from laughed at me when I told them to buy it back. They didn't WANT it back.

So my suggestion is just what the tranny shop told me...

When you're driving it and the light starts blinking, find a tranny shop and tell them you need a scope at that very moment. They should be able to tell you if it's a sensor or the whole shabang. Just make sure you don't shut the car off because the computer won't pick up the trouble code if it's not blinking.
