Mounting Optima Batteries

Ok.. So currently I have a short ram intake right now and it can still clear my battery that I currently have in it. But the optima batteries seem much wider and bigger. Do you think I'd need to move my battery if I plan on getting an Optima?

I've seen a few folks with red-tops wedged into the engine bay with aftermarket intakes, so I know it can be done... Think one of them said that they actually removed the battery tray and wedged it down in there or something.

I moved mine to the hatch, gave me such wonderful room under the hood...

Nope. The battery is sitting on the tray. It's wedged between the (hard) a/c lines & headlight wiring. It's tight enough that the battery doesn't move at all , so I don't need to use a tie-down...

That was how the battery in my old CRX was wedged, but it was always a tight fit, and could be hard to get out. My new CRX though ('88 Si) has a duralast (shudder) that is smaller and fits the engine bay like it's supposed to. Is there any chance that there are decent batteries sized for that space?

Optima just came out with a new (size) battery directly aimed at the import car crowd. I don't have my current issue of SS handy or I'd be able to find a pic. It's basically just like the Optima's that everyone's seen, but it's small enough to fit in the factory locations of most (if not all) imports - Honda's especially.

Optima's for Sport Compacts

i saw those new batteries. $100 isnt too bad for one of those. I was about to pay $150 for the larger one not meant for hondas. I guess I can finally get one now.
