My dad has this tool, I think it's called leak seeker, or something like that. It's a yellow box whith a flexible metal probe. you run the probe over all your lines , and the closer you get to a leak, the faster it beeps. It works for vacumm, AC, pretty much anything! Just out of curiosity, were you from?

thanx

try starting engine and very carefully use starting fluid and spray around the vac connections and lines and listen for rpm changes. when you find a spot that effects rpm suspect a leak. Be very careful starting fluid is FLAMMABLE so be light on the trigger. good luck

thanx for the tip slicksteve, but seems a bit dangerous for me, the only car i have, i dont wanna trash it just yet

i heard you can check a fuel line or something and if you hear a hissing sound, it means theres a vaccum leak, is this true?

I don't know about checking the fuel line...., but the first thing you might want to check is around connector just above the left side of your valve cover, all the vacumme lines run through it. This was a very common piece to leak as it's made of brittle plastic. If you look there and the connectors not there, then someones already bypassed it and did there own plumbing, check that too!!

alrighty, thats good. anybody that can help me!! im thinking the leak is somewere near the intake manifold, and it might have something to do with the leaking gas near the manifold. My Hanes manual says if you smell a gas odor, theres usually a gas leak near the carberator, and i smell gas in the car..

bear with me guys; up and comming mechanic

im gonna check that gass leak tonite, theres no excuse for leaving a gas leak around, its like throwing money out the window.

Lightbulb vacume leak

your vacume leak could be the intake manifold gasket. if there was any damge done to it when you did your head gasket then it will leak. does your RPM fluctuate at all?

when i test for vacuum leak does rpm fluctuate? i havnt tested it yet, the rpms fluctuate badly when idling though.. I just found a gas leak near the intake manifold, i believe it might be the throttle body, but i havnt had daylight to ripe the air clearner assembly off and take a look.. According to my manual, all the symptons say i have a leak somewere near the intake manifold, so you might be right 'bout that, i dunno if it is a gasket, i think they gave me new gaskets when i had the top half of the motor rebuilt..
