Ring gear backlash?

Anybody know what the acceptable ring gear backlash is for
a 99 s-10? I put new bearings in it and thought I had it set up
properly but its got a whine to it now.
Thanks.

call service counter at a chevy dealer near you, preferably a small town one where they arent so busy and will most likely look up technical info like this for you, i had to do same thing today to find out if 88 s-10 2.5L head bolts are torque to yield or not since no one else seemed to know, i mmediatley got answer and that was that bolts have to be replacedon those engines

either that or find a chevy service manual on ebay or similar for that truck you need info for,

goodluck
