question:

My parents just bought a brand new 2001 Accord SE sedan - they just gave me a call this afternoon with a question: After eating out, they went to their car and turned it on, suddenly the factory alarm/panic goes off without them pressing the button. They try and turn it off but it keeps goin off. They take to key out - it keeps going for a minute afterward. They are driving down the road - it is going off every other minute. Their buckles are in, brake isn't up, not in gear, trunk closed, etc. So I just tell them to take out the horn relay in the engine bay to keep it quiet, but the hazard lights are still going.

Any clue what is happening? and how to fix -

Re: question:

try to unhook the battery to reset the alarm.
something must be wrong.

just unhook the battery and then take it to your dealership when you have a chance.
the car should still be under warranty...right ?

good luck

I see you are in Kyle. What ever you do, don't come to Austin and give it Classic (RR), Howdy, or First Texas. Granted I just mentioned the only three in the Austin area, but I thought I'd offer the warning. Unfortunately, I can't help you on the problem, I agree with nat, take it in, esp. if it is still under warranty, which i would imagine it still is.
