Exclamation are civics good college cars?

my friend said that civics are good college cars. Street racers, yes. Car to take to college, I don't know. I mean, when you load down a 4-cyl 2200lb vehicle with college gear like stereo, computer, desk, girlfriend, and other space-consuming items, doesn't it sap the power, even if you have a stick?
I think a good college car would be a Lumina or an Accord. Bigger and stronger than Civics and still light. they can tow trailers as well.
can anyone give me a good shot at this?
thanks.

I drive my Civic as a college car and love it. easy to park, fun to drive, good gas mileage, reliable... how can you go wrong?

Well let's see here, when I take my friends out on the weekends to go cruising and shoot the shit we have:
my stereo 200 lbs
4 guys 800-1,000 lbs
of course you can feel the loss of power, but still, it's not like we're out racing. And with college, why do you need all that power when you're hauling around your desk and girlfriend? And yes, accords are awesome, I have one of those too. The accord has much more power and is much larger so you can fit more into it. I would get an accord, but there is nothing wrong with the civics.....

I personally own a 95 civic and 98 GSX . 95 civic is being given to my sister . But, When i go to college in about 9 months. Im probably going to sell my GSX to get a Civic Si 2 door, or maybe a 3 Series Bmw. Power is o so much fun in the GSX, smokes alot of cars out there and my 250hp im at right now was easily obtained. yet College im looking for fuel efficience, and just getting me from A - B. My gsx runs 11 gallon tank PREMIUM only. Oh its fun when you drive for 2 hours and you lose a half of tank of gas. But you can also got 150mph (havnt tried it on the street..im not an idiot) in the mix. Take the good with the bad. haha.

My Civic started as a cheap, reliable car for college, transportantion, etc. Well, That was like 3 years ago. I quikcly changed my mind, did research and started building it up. Still, I have a stereo, my girl lives 45 miles away, so I have a lot of crap in the back. It got me from point A-Point B fine, on the stock motor when it was in there. Wasn't fast, but it got me there. Now, with the swap and all the other crap done to it, it's a joy to drive. Much more power. Still...civics are cheap, will get you from point A to Point B. It's a fine college car that has great potential for more, if you are into that. Still, the Accords not a bad choice. I like the civic cuz it's small, and easy to park. Don't trip, wheather it's an accord or civic, you'll be fine hauling your girl, the car stereo and lugguge, etc. I don't have an Accord, but my friend has a 94 EX I have driven a Lot. Stock, I could tell the accord had more power. Now thats not the case. But still. The civic was fine as a college car stock. You'll be good either way.

any car that is affordable and will get you around is a good college car. the college years are supposed to be fun and crazy. just dont get stuck with a car payment during the college years. its going to suck. you gonna have to scavenge for the beer fund. and if you looking to fix up your car, then your going to have to work harder to find money for the beer fund.
